Norman Kilgarrif has referred on a number of occasions to my 1949 frame with only 5 half lugs. While Norman has been enlightening or confusing us, I have continued to try to find out more about the frame. I now believe that it is a Sport Anglais model, made for just a short time in 1949, using part of the lugs which in the next year were to be used on the All Rounder model. The frame is illustrated and referred to in C-Bs advert on page 23 of Cycling of August 18th 1949, and I am 99% certain that it is the same frame. Claud's description of it is "Alternatively you have the choice of "C.B. BI-LAMINATED" frames such as the "Avant Courier* or the "Sport Anglais" (see frame illustration on left). Angles 74 head and 72 seat, etc.". If anyone can find it in a 49 catalogue and give me more information it would be appreciated, and I shall be pleased to email a scan of the ad to anyone who is interested.
