I would have to agree, not because of what it might do to the hoods but because of what it would do to just about every other part of the bike. Brake fluid is nasty stuff. Definitely keep it far away from any painted surface!

This is a great technique that works well for a wide variety of rubber parts. I used to use this method to install windshields in cars back when they had rubber seals holding them in.
