>>>I forget the brand but there used to be a product made to address this issue. Perhaps it is still available. It was a short section of aluminum tubing with a tiny flange. The tube takes up the difference in diameter and the flange keeps it in place. Jamie Swan<<<

Absolutely correct, and perfect description. I remember selling them, once upon a time. I can't remember the brand either, and doubt they are still made. I picked up a show-card display with several pair of these nifty little widgets at a swap meet a few years back. I used the first pair a couple of months ago on a set of Weinmann box-section rims I built up. Friction-fit, they press neatly into the rim, and have a cool detailed look. I still have several pair left, but I can't offer them to the list since everyone will want a pair, and I don't have 700+ pair to hand out. Besides, it will probably take me a couple of months to find them after my move.

However, when I unearth them, Harvey "funkmaster" Sachs will get a pair, just because he's the funkmaster, and Jamie Swan will get a pair as a template so he can custom fabricate some for the truly needy (and wealthy) aficionado.
