Heheheh, you can do so much with this, and all of it off-topic, alas ... ex. al references to hairspray, aerodynamique, helmet-hair c/ 1961, etc. or, "all he needs is a Gauloise on his lip." (or a Gitane, if his sponsors approved. Less attitude, though.) BTW this pic's the same age as me (a few weeks older, actually).
Seriously, I looked at this pic at 300X because it looks like the bike has fender eyelets. I know that's probably not that uncommon for the day, but still, kinda neat. Could that crankset be a Stronglight?
And so much fender clearance. I'm surprised we don't see more examples of "retired" racing bikes of a Certain Age, since it was common for a feller to hang fenders and such on his old racer and ride it in town, when his racing days were over. (Or, in Britain, damper than the Continong, where they'd take the fenders off at the track!)
Or maybe I shouldn't be surprised -- I suppose the average lightweight doesn't last long when it's thrown in among the rod-brake set. Probably many an old racing bike fell apart in the hands of whoever the old gent passed it to. I must admit, I've always liked the look of a racing bike "disguised" as a townie ;-)
