Subject: [CR]Two Questions -- 1) Frame Repair and 2) Gearing Options

Greetings list!

1. An old riding buddy of mine just emailed. He has one of those limited edition Raleigh Pros ('71?) that he bought way back when. His note: "I dinged my top tube on my Raleigh Pro. It has just a tiny vertical crease about 1/2" long, and its still structurally sound... though it bugs the heck out of me when I see it that way. I am looking to find a way to get it fixed." Any suggestions for him? Not sure, but the frame may have been repainted once, so originality in that regard won't be an issue.

2. I'm going to install a 48/34 TA front on a Silk Hope frame. Does anyone have experience with freewheel and derailleurs that work well with that combo? The rear spacing is 126.

Thanks much in advance. I'll forward along your suggestions to my riding buddy. Hearing from him brings back fond memories of loading a six-pack in the handlebar bag for a night-time ride to the Greensboro airport. We'd lay on the end of the runway, just outside of the landing skidmarks, and wait for the jets to scream past overhead. Eventually the guards would swoop in with a helicopter and chase us off. Ah, youth.

Still using that handlebar bag.
