IIRC, 531cs is just "standard" gauge 531, renamed to fit their 1980s nomenclature. Club Standard, or something like that. Same as "531c" perhaps? 531st was one size heavier, like classic Paramounts were. Special Touring, again IIRC. YMMV. QED. QEII. (No, wait - that's an oceanliner...). I just received a 1984 TREK 660 I bought on eBay. The tubing sticker looks similar to the one used by Schwinn and identifies this as Reynolds 531cs. I know 531c, 531SL and 531ST, but I never heard of 531cs. Anyone know what this is?
