Here is a website in Italian that is put out by the township of Novi Ligure where Girardengo bikes were built. Costante Girardengo was one of the first superstars of Italian cycling.

The name of the first "campionissimo" or superhero of the history of cycling is not only tied to his legendary sports feats. It was in fact around Costante Girardengo, that he along with his sons Luciano and Ettore launched their bicycle factory in Alessandria in the 40's, quickly conquering an important market position and sponsoring important cycling teams. In the middle of the 60's the "Girardengo" company transferred its activities inside the Alessandria jail, thereby giving work assembling bikes to the inmates. As the years passed, and following the death of Costante, the sons left the business, but the Girardengo brand still continues today to hold the name high. With a few variations in the "Girardengo" company leadership, teh company has settled in the nearby Frugarolo with works covering over 20,000 square meters and has equipped a good amateur team.
