Have just been lent an excellent book by an old cycling friend "The Southern Wheelers" by Tony Killick and Ken Tamon. In this wonderful book there is a reference to the 1925 minutes book where they approached lightweight firms to place adverts in their "Rule Book" at the cost of 5 shillings an advert. Only Claud Butler accepted Maurice G Selbach and Fred H Grubb declined. Could this be three years before the generally accepted date of Claud's starting in 1928? I have heard of 1927 mentioned as the foundation of Claud Butlers but have never seen such an early reference as 1925 in print before.
