Ray inquired: ...should not strap a tire under your seat without some covering or protection to prevent rub damage. Does the same hold true if you are using one of these? Does anyone have any long term experience with using one of these?

Ray & List

The Zues tire holder does spread the load accross the tire, one tire. It does not protect the base tape from road dirt etc., I try to always have a spare that has a layer of glue on it to help with the on road bond. That said, I think it is still best to protect the tire from dirt etc, out here in So Cal where it never rains on a vintage ride...(almost never) a dark sock can work well, the one left over when its' mate entered the 4th dimension in the clothes dryer last week.

The rubber on the Zues tire holders does not like ozone, they age faster in the stretched condition as well, best left in the box perhaps.
