Subject: [CR]Weinmann Alesa / Birmalux Rims

Five minutes into my first ride of my own ten speed, I went down a sewer grating and ruined the rear rim. It was replaced, in January of 1973, with a 27" Weinmann / Alesa rim (Alesa was a rim maker absorbed by Weinmann.) These are the rims with anti-dimples around the spoke holes and an channel on each side of the spoke line (like araya) all the way around the rim. Since parts travel slowly to central illinois I'm sure these rims would be correct for your paramount.

On the other hand, I don't think i remember seeing weinmann concave rims until the late 1970's.

==== related question ====

According to the Rigida web site (Rigida Absorbed Weinmann, Weinmann absorbed Alesa), Rigida still makes a 27" rim that weighs 520gm with single reinforced eyelets. It's called the AS 23 x SL (under mountain rims.) Does anyone have any experience with this rim, or does anyone know a distributor for this rim ?? Thank you.
