I've bought low, and I've bought high, and believe me Steve, no matter how nice the bike, buying low is ALWAYS better.

And, while I enjoy admiring my bikes enormously (it's like having a nice little fine-art collection..the pleasures are much the same, imho), I also like the fact that were I to liquidate the entire shooting-match right now, I'd break even, or better. Most likely better. Not by a lot, but by some.

Breaking even is usually good enough for me. For instance, when I sell a bike here on the list, I almost always sell it for what I have in it, and no more.

And the thread did start with value. I see nothing much wrong, and a whole lot right, about being canny about value. Even that crazy de Rosa I bought awhile back was a good value, imho..why? Because it's very, very rare.

And because I like admiring it. <g>
