A cycling mate has just sent me this information on Liverpool frame makers. Thought I would share it.

B.W. Bentley built standard and "K" frames? Harold Dickinson built good frames and did a lot of tandems to triplet conversions. Jin Fothergill built mostly for the trade said to have pionneered inch and one eigth top tubes. Aussie Hurlen specialised in fancy lugwork. Equal to Hetchins. Jack Quinn brother of Harry Quinn. Harry Quinn made wonderful frames trained Terry Dolan and Billy Whitfield. On losing sight in one eye sold out to Falcon Cycles (Ernie Clements). Later started rebuilding in Tenby with son Peter. When Reg Harris's Macclesfield business closed Harry purchased his Campag frame jigs. Jim Soens built standard and a no whip model. This business was passed to Pete Matthews. Bill Twiddle famous for the Lancaster Specials. Wally Watkins near to Harry Quinn's mostly track frames. Billy Whitfield formerley of Harry Quinn's said to have emigrated to the USA?

Yours in cycling. Michael Butler Huntingdon UK.
