An update: I found in my stash a set of cheap replacement gum hoods with rather large holes where cable exits so maybe meant for use with adjusters. Bought at my LBS or flea market. It was some wholesalers name on bag (no- not Euroasia). Unfortunately I lost/threw bag away. The good part is that they are no-name and fit pretty good and have room for adjuster. They will need a bit of silicone as filler since the lever bodys are a bit shorter than say Weinmann or Dia-Compes. Thanks to those that responded.
