My recollection: around 1976 I saw an article by Bill McCready (owner of Bud's Bike Shop in Claremont, CA and Santana tandems) about DT stainless spokes and some tensile testing he had had done (by Caltech?) on all the currently available spokes. The DTs tested the best and I switched to them for my personal wheelbuilding because I was really unhappy with Robergels.
