I got my latest VBQ and once again found it to be fascinating. In particular, Jan Heine's interview with Paulette Porthault about cyclotouring during the 1930s and 1940s was very interesting. I had no idea that competitions continued during the occupied France war years. The part about how Parisian cyclists used their bikes to go into the countryside for food makes so much sense that I'm surprised more hasn't been written about it. I haven't read the rest of it yet, but as usual, I highly recommend everyone get a subscription to this wonderful publication. Lou Deeter, Orlando FL
