Subject: [CR]Interest in Cotter Press Production Run??

Park Tool's cotter press has been out of production for a few years, so I recently made myself one.

Thread is a bit bigger than the Park, 1/2" x 20 vs 7/16" x 20. Nice thing about using 1/2" is that either 3/4" or 19mm wrenches work fine.

I showed it to a couple of bike nut machinists and asked the price of running off a small batch. Turns out if I can expect to sell 10 between this list, British Roadster enthusiasts and Antique bike lovers, I could sell them for $50 + S&H.

So I'm trying to gauge interest. If you think you might want one, please contact me off list.

"Production" units would have 1/8" radii on the inside corners. (instead of the large radius at the top corner & the stress riser relieving hole at the other corner.) They will also be a bit prettier, I used a band saw, they'll use a CNC milling rig. Bolts would be shorter, as this one is too long, making it a bit awkward to use.

BTW I was able to feed 45% silver in at the top of the nut, and have it flow all the way through. No wonder it flows into lugs so well. If I could find a bolt with 2" of threads I wouldn't need to make the bolts.

Business is slow for independent, small CNC shops, and I want to give them any work I can. They have been a big asset to local bike builders so I don't want to see them go under.
