Sunday PM

Well, yesterday I got 4 new magazines in the mail, one of them having to do with my chosen profession.

Tonight after work (!) I slumped into my favorite chair and picked up the Bicycling magazine. Usually this is a painful experience. I feel I HAVE to read Bicycling because my living depends upon knowing what it contains from month to month. But the 20 minutes (max) it takes to read it is always cruel time... the layout is goofy and hard to read, the articles & photos are usually squeezed into a small size & space to make way for the big ads of non-cycling products, the articles themselves are often not about bikes at all but silly stuff. The writers are shallow, boring and they think they are clever. The readers are assumed to be idiots (Are they?) They plug crappy stuff blatantly. It is just a n inane and hideous magazine. And it's number 1. Ugh.

SO, this time I am shocked to see, on page 67, a full page photo of mostly vintage Campagnolo component boxes! Viola! And then, in Mark Reidy's pretty good (if over the top a bit) article on Campagnolo, references and pictures of my buddies, Peter Johnson and Chuckie Schmidt! Great! Saved from another torture session! I sorta wish he had mentioned Peter's frame building prowess and Chuck's graphic art genius, but all and all I had a great time seeing the boyz!

Thanks Mark Reidy! (Maybe there's hope for Bicycling magazine yet?....nah.)
