Lou and Dave,

If you work in a bike shop long enough some funny things happen. I borrowed a line or two from a coworkers antique book of a store owner in Maine from the 1930-1940's.

Youu'll here this around our shop once in a while.

They says: "What do you mean it costs $32 or $40; it's the same thing. If you have two prices on everything, you must be criminal."

I says;" Well I'm a bigger crook than that; I have three prices on everything! One's the cash price; one's the credit price and the last one is the price I charge to people that question either of the first two or I feel like I'll have to chase and dun em for the second one."

A civil tone usually follows.

A good employee of mine used to say when he goes to a flea market, antique store, car lot he always uses the same phrases as the toughest customers he could remember and things are easy.

Ever here a neighbor come home from a car lit with a good deal! Everyone gets one of those. Most folks buy just a handful of cars in a lifetime but a successful car dealership has well trained negotiators and managers that represent decades of daily car sales. It's like taking a knife to a machine-gun fight.
