My SO finds my bike fetish charming (she rides tandem with me, and I have a very nice Gillot L'Atlantique that I'm going to build up for her), but for those who have a little different situation to deal with, I have the perfect solution. Once you get beyond 15 or 20 bikes, it becomes rather difficult for anyone else to be very clear on what you have... so, just get 15 or 20 of 'em hanging from the basement ceiling, or the garage rafters, in various states of disassembly (a few frames-only hanging there are good camouflage I think), and your SO will never know that you've added one, or two...

#1. THE PROBLEM: We have "overshot" the carrying capacity of Earth and are on the edge of "die-off" -- possibly even "die-out". Probably no more than two billion people could be sustained indefinitely.

#2. THE REASON: We (like other animals) are programmed to overshoot in the presence of "exceptional" (more than average) food, water & health care, etc. The net energy derived from fossil fuel that enabled us to produce exceptional food, water, etc. is "peaking" now.
