I am putting 700C rims on a cheap old Torpado that came with 27" rims. Oldly enough, the rear Universal centerpull brake reaches the rim fine, but the front is a few mm too short. I would like to trade my front brake for another longer one like I have in back. I don't know much about Universal brakes, but the words are filled in with blue paint if that means anything. Anybody want to trade? +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++= Many moons ago, faced with the same problem (if not the same bike), I discovered that there are unexploited possibilities for "adjustment" that would make your chiropractor wince. I lengthened the slots about a mm, and made the round hole for the bolt that attaches to the crown just a bit oblong, and voila, it fit! This just took a little patience and a rat-tail file... In front, if the bolt is long enough, you can subtly space out the brake from the crown just a bit, which means the brake hits the rim lower.

Of course, not knowing exactly how much you would have to file, nor how many lawyers are in your family, I would Never Recommend this... :-)
