Correct, not much like a Peugeot at all...
Looks more like a Motobecane to me.
In fact it's almost identical to a 531 'Super Champion' I purchased from list-member Peter Paine in Rickmansworth a couple of weeks ago - except that mine is Metallic Blue and has a complete set of decals and dosen't need refinishing!
Looks as though this one has been 'rattlecanned'...
