Jeff, I have a full-chrome 1937 Oscar Wastyn six-day bike that I thought might have been an early Paramount when I first got it. (19 pounds with steel cottered cranks, a B-17, and a Paramount adjustable stem & bar).

It's shown on Jeff McCabe's site (www.thecabe.com IIRC). Does the one you are dealing with look like mine? I sent jpegs of mine to the Wastyn shop in Chicago, and they verified that it was "one of grandpa's."

They also told me that (pre-paramount) Oscar would put just about anything on a BB as a serial number, if the customer requested it. Mine just has the build date: "10 22 37" plus a "2" after that....

Jeff Groman also mentioned to me that there was a guy named Mr. Goosens that worked for Oscar for a while, then went out on his own, so that's another possibility.

Hope this might be of some help in identifying the one you're looking at.

Regards,

Greg Parker Ann Arbor

I have a guy inquiring about a bike he owns and is trying to learn a little bit about it. He thinks it is a Paramount and it does have the Paramount adjustable stem and cranks. The frame has lugs similar to the keyhole lugs but they are definitely different. It currently has 26 x 1 3/8" tires with a Schwinn drum brake on the rear (obviously not original). The serial number is LUNDGOOT. The head badge is engraved John L Harridge but it almost appears that there could have been a different badge under it. 1" pitch chain, integrated headset cups. Dunlop rims, Torrington pedals, BSA headset, looks to have been chrome lugs at one time.

I can forward pictures if anyone thinks they can help this fellow out.
