I pulled out my CLB-2 CPs and tested with a Rivendell superstrong refrigerator magnet. On my CLB-2s, NEITHER the cables NOR the housings are alloy. Both are sucked up by the magnet. It appears perhaps the alloy housings appeared on a different CLB model, or perhaps some CLB-2s had them while others did not, or perhaps they were sold separately as a special superlight retrofit. Evidently, the alloy cables were just an urban myth, and a rather unlikely one at that.
