Hey, Chuck, Dale and Joe, etc:

I think Joe is the most correct here when he says: If they came stock on anything it would be the tiny little high end sidepulls. Spaceliner or something like that.

I bought a set of the last model from CLB, the SpaceLine through Mel Pinto, and not the exact end of the model's run, but close to it. The final production units were white in color with red "CLB" shrouds/covers. Mine were the "other worldly material" or however the CLB ads in LeCycle touted this new, superlight product. Mine definitely came with the alloy housings. I feel that the spongy as Chuck says, and I concur, feel is from the steel cables themselves which I would switch to a better-designed-from-a-percent-elongation-perspective model from Campy or Shimano. Of course, any braking performance has to be measured against the competitors of the day such as Modolo and not against today's quite improved double pivots. Today, when I take the SpaceLine-equipped Vitus out, I do have to continually remind myself that I just do not have the brakes I am used to day in and day out.

I do have the original box and manual and I will try to find it for you guys in the next week.
