Tom Martin asked... Anyone heard of D'Allesandro tubular tires? When was the last time the were imported to the US, if at all? Did they have a good reputation? Are they still around? Anyone have catalogue pages or posters or anything like that?

I don't know anything other than I got two pairs (and a spare) of the d'Allesandro SPECIALEs (700 x 22) via eBay last year. They were dirt cheap, Asian made, and a lot of bang for the buck. The tubes must be pretty thick because they retain air like crazy. At the price, I don't think I can complain about their "not as smooth as silk" ride.
