It is really a sloppy scam. To offer it to a bidder at $600 is really pretty comical. I was high bidder on it through much of the final day. I took the position at about $860 and was there until it passed $1025...and then the bidding really took off! No one has offered me a 2nd chance at my higher bid. I am a poor guide to E Bay scams, however. I am still trying to see if I have been scammed out of $1500 on a recent deal there. More on that when the dust settles. Tom Sanders Lansing, Mi

Tom and the CR List, I was the second highest bidder for the Masi Special last week and just got an email from the seller who reports that the winning bidder is no longer a registered with ebay. He is offering a 2nd chance to purchase the bike. I was outbid by $45.10. Here's the content of the letter:

Hi, last week you were the 2nd highest bidder on a Masi Special bike we had for sale. it now appears that the high bidder is no longer registered with eBay. Are you still interested in the bike ? if yes, we will send you a 2nd chance offer. Thanks for the earlier interest. Barry... Thank you, we$ellit

Does this sound legitimate to you? The return address is that used for the original auction.
