horror of horrors; you snipped this text from my post and now no one will understand the follow-ups... this anawer here is "no", it is not a small problem at all because, with this snipped description, i was describing how the manufacturer measures a blueprinted frame prior to the build. i recall referring to it as the "virtual centreline*" - and i believe the manufacturer would not confuse his own self when doing set-ups and/or final measurements. otoh, it is the aftermarket that is unable to measure this distance the same way, and - as i wrote, the other suggestion was to take a bush, er i mean, take a ruler, and go from the crank dust cover to the centre* of the qr and live with that reading. as long as the wheel is in the bicycle, taking this measurement should be no small problem. e-RICHIE chester, ct * spelled the "british" way to show my diverse background!

That's a small problem, no? Can't that vary? One person's prescribed space is another's misplaced axle.
