Musettes are called "Bonk Bags" in the UK. It's a feeding bag.The bonk is the same as the knock or hitting the wall. The fashion in the 50's and 60's was to have these made out of canvas multi stripped cotton. The type of material that was used on folding deck chairs on passenger lines or on the beach. Just like a 60's Beach Boys shirt.A Poseur is someone who has the lot and looks the part and does it for affect. Like I said you got a 15 year old girl schoolgirl to make one of these in needlework for ten cigarettes. Embassy were the the brand although the currency has probably changed in schools today to something harder and whats the in term "recreational". How the hell hard drugs can be dumbed down with stupid words like this beats me. We use to wrap our cycling capes, tools and spare tubs in these pretty plastic flags that were used to advertise ice cream. They used to hang outside shops and cyclists were notorious for nicking (stealing) them. You had to stand on your crossbar to reach them hence the fashion for slopping crossbars there were really bent with the weight, only joking. Eldorado's ice cream was a particularly sort after flag, Lyons Maid and Walls were very common most of the novices had these. Tuggoe is something akin to a novice in cycle speak. Now most of us in the UK like a bike in original paint with its correct period bits and its a bonus if you can find an old bonk bag or ice cream cape wrap. Real authenticity. Oh be carefull on the slang useage of bonk. It is also slang for screwing or copulating. It also means hard on (errection) as well. Sorry for the 50's/60's nostalgia. Take care and best wishes Mick.

<< Don't know about North of the Border but when "Bonk Bags" were popular down "Sarf" we got our Mums or Girlfriends to make them out of deck chair canvas. Or chatted up one of the girls in fourth year needlework classes. Amazing the purchasing powers of ten Embassy! No "Southern Poseur" would have been seen dead with one of those trade jobs. How about the plastic ice cream flag as a cape and tub role to add authenticity to the Scott. Eldorado's were the height of fashion in our club. Lyons Maid and Walls for "Tuggoes". >>

Mick!

I haven't the faintest idea about most of what you said in this message!

I guess I will have to plug that text into http://babelfish.altavista.com
