Regarding the chainguard on the Raleigh Carlon, I have never seen one mounted before. Is that because it was a Campy option that wasn't "cool" for lightweight racers? Too heavy perhaps and unnecessary? Or did it hamper shifting to the big chainring? In any event, are they rare and sought after by any chance? Do they require longer chainring bolts? I'm curious because I have one. Interestingly, it is highly polished on the outside, with a rough satin finish on the inside, neither finish being the same as the anodized finish on both NR and SR cranks.
