Based on what?

I was recently at the Ducati factory in Bologna, a company that celebrates its past. The tour guide and the factory floor boss were genuinely thrilled to talk about old bevel drive Ducati arcana. I have yet to hear anyone mention any contact with anyone from Campagnolo about their vintage gear that wasn't brusque and dismissive. Anyone have any stories about how interested and helpful modern Campagnolo people were concerning their vintage gear?
