Well, I think Selle Royal had already raised US prices before the dollar dropped so far versus the euro and pound. The weakening dollar has probably eroded their profitability in the US, though. However, I would bet there is still a nice profit in selling the Swallow at $400. Judging by my own experience with backordered Brooks's they seem to be selling Brooks saddles faster than they can make them.

That's only due to the drop in the value of the US dollar. Everything I import from GB and Europe is costing much more than it did a year or two ago. For example, in 1999, you could buy one Euro for about $.87. Now it costs $1.29.

So it should come as no surprise that the cost of most foreign products has gone up.
