agreed and attaboy... what's more - VeloStuf is one of the 6 sponsors of the CR.com site. as was pointed out yesterday, without the support of john and others, getting the information (as well as the products) to listees might cost more. i think supporting his efforts is a very good thing.

Maybe it was unintended that Don mentioned Velostuf and scalpers in the same paragraph. Personally I've always been happy with anything I bought from John, including a Campy NR HS lock nut and adjustable cup that rolled up in the USPS truck exactly 10 minutes before I was ready to install it on my 1975 Raleigh Pro. Talk about perfect timing. John has to buy this stuff to resell and the scarcity of some items will affect the price, but I've never felt that John was being unreasonable or that he was getting rich off this venture. Velostuf, Bicycle Classics, Harris Cycles, Peter White, etc. do a great service to the hobby and I'm grateful to have them around.

I'm pretty sure that I have never offered Campy hoods for more than $37, and that was a while back. Also, you make me sound like a real skank. I ain't.

I have sold a LOT of stuf over the last 10 years, way more than anyone thinks, I bet. But, I promise you that my average net profits add up to way less than $4 per hour spent on this hobby.

I do it cuz I love it.

If you want world-logo or shield-logo hoods, there are a few scalpers who will charge $75/pair (shield-logo). Velostuf comes to mind. You can find world-logo and shield-logo on ebay, and sometimes the hoods are cheaper with levers attached, and cheaper still with levers & handlebars & stems attached. I bought some nice fresh shield logo hoods for $100 and they came with a bicycle attached. Well, that wasn't the only purpose i had for that bike ...
