For several years now I have been a volunteer at the Matheny School and Hospital (www.matheny.org), primarily in helping them organize their annual MILES FOR MATHENY event. The event includes 5 bike routes (varying distances and difficulty), a 5K run, two walk routes, and a wheelchair roll. For next year, I'm going to add a vintage bike ride to the festivities. The vintage bike ride will be publicized in the brochures and the website, and the Public Relations guy at Matheny will issue press releases about it. After the activities there is a big celebratory picnic at the school and there will be a spot to display your bike if you wish.
The event begins at Peapack, NJ (Somerset County). This area has incredibly scenic roads, small towns and villages.
I hope CR list members will come out for the ride, and perhaps we can attract others that are interested in vintage bikes but might not know about CR. And, maybe some others will learn more about this aspect of cycling.
