Rather odd that Nitto chooses to make the Non-Deluxe in 5 cm and 6 cm, when, as I've just learned, it may bottom out on the steerer butt. It would have made more sense to limit the Non-Deluxe to 7 cm and make the shorter quill Deluxe in 5 cm and 6 cm. Unless Nitto are targeting the market for bikes with upright bars, which are more often higher than the saddle, and whose price point may be better matched to the Non-Deluxe.

Peter didn't have the Deluxe in stock in 6 cm, plus the original stem was more in the price range of the Non-Deluxe, so I didn't feel the need to spend the extra money. Problem with Rivendell is they now seem to stock stems only in 9 cm, although they say they can order other sizes at a somewaht higher price.

As far as I can tell, the Technomic Deluxe is not made in a 6cm. 7cm is the shortest. If anyone knows differently, please let me know and I'll try to get them. It's a beautifully finished stem, and definitely period correct.
