Subject: [CR]Paramount Track Tandem ID

Hello all,

I am new to the list and to the "on topic" class of bicycles (although I once owned ... and spectacularly crashed ... a '78 Schwinn Caliente ... Front-Freewheel and all... back in the day ... :). I have recently come to own this Tandem.... more by a desire to share the joys of cycling with my family... not as a collector.

It has Schwinn/Paramount decals and badging but when I was not able to find anything like it (in the Schwinn Lightweight Data Book) I sought information about it on a few other forums/individuals. I have come here seeking more information.

I've been told everything from "it may be a Frankenbike" up to it was a "one-of-a-kind track ridden by Jackie Simes II" http://images5.theimagehosting.com/heidsimes2.jpg. I'd like to think it is the latter but I thought I'd consult the list for an opinion. From the newbie research I've done, I guess I believe it is an early-fifties Paramount track frame that was modified in the mid-seventies. These is no serial number on the bike.

It is a fun bike to ride and I have succeeded ... at least in the short term.... of getting my family to join me on some cold morning rides!

Any thoughts on this bike would be appreciated. If I can provide more information to help in its identification please feel free to contact me.

Thanks,
