Maybe it is the pie... *but* I have several original Martano wheeled Masi's and the rims from the auction are the later (or lighter?) rims. Another 'close but no cigar' situation. Few would know the difference except the real cognoscenti...until you see the logo's side-by-side. I myself have purchased several sets of these later bowtie logo rims but have been reminded they are a no-no if originality is the aim. This holds true for both Italian and CA Masi's.

P.S. The Bee's Knee's Martanos are the old logo with grooved sidewalls.

OK, I'll unmask myself; I was the winning bidder. What can I say? I want what I want, and it must be original -- no stickers on the cheaper stuff. Besides, another Masi owner (I believe, very well known to the CR List) was bidding against me! I paid too much but I got the real deal for my one and only '70's Masi GC.

Cowabunga!*

For my money I'd just as soon use any tradition section sew-up rim and put on a repro rim decal of choice for the manufacturer. Can anyone easily i.d. a rim when there isn't a decal present?
