The original bikes I've seen (admittedly, a limited number, probably a dozen or so) all had the truncated-pyramid-stickered Martanos. And my understanding is the Martanos were standard on the bikes assembled in Carlsbad, although others can confirm that better than I can.

The question was, and remains, *which* Martanos?? And in what year?

Charles;

I've gone thru all my photos and it is amazing how seldom this detail appears. Because of the angles most people choose when taking closeup photos of their bikes, rim decals just do not show up except, it seems, by complete accident.

Anyway, I did find ONE later Carlsbad (#0579) with bowtie-label Martanos. Take it for what it's worth, since there's no assurance that rims are original (no notes with this bike). All the Martano decals before '75 were the pyramid style.
