Hey everyone...

I thought I would tell you what I see as the "list manager" of the list when this sort of stuff happens.

Frequently e-mail from the list "bounces," when it's sent out to members, meaning the host software robot sends the CR mail to you but for some reason your isp or e-mail software will not accept it. Sometimes this is because your e-mail box is full, sometimes it sees the CR mail as spam, or who knows. Hotmail has had a history for bouncing CR mail.

So, when you e-mail bounces, it sends me an e-mail notice (I get so many I do not pay any attention to them, just dumping the notices without opening) and it starts an electronic count down on your account. When you have X number of bounces, the software automatically puts you in a "no mail" status. It apparently doesn't kick you off the list, just puts you in a stalled out position. Having said that, I HAVE found some members get bumped totally off on occasion, who knows why? In any case, despite being "list manager," I have no control over it and do not cause any of these things to occur.

But I can put you back in a "receive mail" status, if I know your mail has been stopped by the host software robot. In Larry's case, I just reinstated him so he should be receiving mail now.

The only final comment is that all this takes time; logging onto the CR member maintenance web page, finding the membership, changing it's status and then submitting the changes, all can take 7-8 minutes each time. After doing this many many times, I have gotten impatient with members with Hotmail (when it's acting up) and people who do not regularly read their e-mail and start bouncing.

Now you know the "story behind the story!"
