I have a 1974 copper colored Raleigh International. I just got it recently and after frame savering, waxing, cleaning and reassembling I'm near the point of re-taping the bars. What color cloth tape have people used with the copper colored Raleighs?

Well here we go with the classic "restoration" question! Actually Raleighs of this era used that now very unchic, low mojo factor plastic bar tape. White. With white Carlton hoods. So if you're going prototypical, you stuck! Otherwise... your choice! I have white cloth tape on my '48 RRA which is shellaced to, I had hoped, come out in the same creamy colour as the mudguards. It's more tan than cream but not unattractive. You can most likely get a near match for the copper colour with shellac as I've seen this before, just not sure of the mix.
