I second Dale's nomination of Northroads. When I first called them to ask if they had any B-17s they said "yes" and I said "more than one?" and they said "13."

I scouted around and found things like Delta brakes there, too, as well as unrideable 50 leather saddles that were very cool (which to their credit they warned me against trying to actually ride) and then of course you better like, I mean REALLY like Moutons. It is, truly and deeply, Moultonland 'o Mania.

One note, though: Jeff's shop in Statesville is farther than 45 minutes from the Triangle. I would venture to say closer to an hour and a half. Second caveat: as Dale points out, it is a museum, which is to say, you will fall in love with unbuyables.

Mucho unbuyables. Still, the tease is worth it.

Ricky Garni of the Triangle

really, Carrboro
