My prototype Masi 3V has all the make and model lettering as well as the signatures done in paint.

I was reading posts at this website that Derosa hosts and saw one on painting a Derosa. The response from Derosa says that they don't use decals/stickers, but paint the name directly on the paint and then clearcoat it. Does anyone know how long they have been doing this? I would think this is something that started post-CR timeline. Did many builders/painters do this prior to 1983? I had a Tom Kellogg from 1979 that had the letters on the downtube painted.
