The Dave Staub story was a great one, wasn't it. It was in issue #2 btw. I can't fault Brook for his take on this publication. We both look on it as something with potential, both see it as unrealized potential, but Brook is a bit closer to pulling the plug on support/subscription.

I think there were more stories to appeal to a CR list reader (who outside this list isn't blindered to see only on-topic topics) than the Dave Staub story though. There was mention of Velo-Rendevous in issue #4. Perhaps the Cirque will appear in fuller form on it's pages. A CR list member appeared prominently in issue #5 btw.

In addition to urging others to subscribe, perhaps I should also urge people to send Patrick Brady input on what to include in the next issues. Maybe a piece on the bike restoration 'industry'. Jan, does VBQ have an exclusive on the Technical Trials? As Asphalt does color, it's possible coverage of the TT and Cirque could convey another aspect of the events.

My experience is the opposite, I find myself very disappointed with Asphalt. The magazine has plummeted since the first issues that baited me with on topic stories like Dave Staub. Now I find I'm reading travelogues and bicycle tests--the very reasons I don't read consumer magazines like Bicycling.

I don't see myself re-upping my subscription unless a big trunaround occurs.
