between a Mavic Monthlery Pro and a Mavic Championnat du Monde tubular rim? >>

Peter,

The Championnats preceeded the Monthlery Pros by a very few years. I know the Championnats were available in 1974-75 and the Pros were available approximately 1979.

They are very similar in construction and weight, with the Pros perhaps 5-15 grams grams lighter and approximately .5-.7mm wider. I have built wheels with both, and in fact, have just finished two sets of wheels using Championnats. I'm not terribly thrilled with them and found the pros built up with less "work", but that could have been because the Championnats were at the end of the run and the pros were from the early start up? The Championnats have nice labels and weigh ~410grams (mine varied from 398grams to ~420grams) while Mavic listed a weight for the Pros @395grams (did not include eyelet weight!!).

I suspect the Championnats "evolved" into the Pros, but I don't know for a fact.
