Subject: [CR]HORTON RIDE REPORT

Last Sunday we were able to enjoy a break in the weather for a SF ride to BRET HORTONS , we met up near CHRISSEY field. A hearty group of 8 or so, soon to be a group of 7 as my HETCHINS freewheel locked up solid before I even got out of the parking lot. someone else will have to fill in the ride particulars FAST FORWARD to a little before NOON............................................. BRET met us at the front door of his building to guide us up to his office and the HORTON COLLECTION. BRET is a gracious host who guided us from room to room ,discussing not only what the display was but also his philosophy as a collector, his relationship with not only current competitors but also legends of the past like EDDY MERCKX. The topics discussed were everything from turn of the century racers to the more modern age riders and their off topic equipment. BRETs knowledge is encyclopedic, the fact he loves what he does was quite apparent. Everyone was slow to head for the door at the end of the visit. We ended the day at a bike friendly restaurant for more bike talk. Since BRET rotates the display items I'd like to do this again (maybe a yearly ride and visit?) I have few photos of the visit at http://www.wooljersey.com/gallery/album 49
