Discussion of Camp. track hub without holes in the flanges has rekindled my interest in learning the Japanese system for designating components with "NJS" status. What is the qualification process, how does a component manufacturer obtain a "license" to use the logo, etc.

I've run across components with this designation including bars, stems, pedals, BB spindles. Most appear more robustly built than a standard component, but not always (the MKS RX-1 pedals are super light.

Can anyone explain or direct us to some good reference material?
