I love this thread. My love of these bikes in general, and Masis in particular, has very little to do with who made a particular frame. If I knew for sure that Faliero, or Alberto, or Mario, or Pela, or Baylis made a specific frame, that would be a charming thing and add to my enjoyment of said frame, but it would not be anywhere near the whole deal.

As I posted off-list to a couple of folks, my own love for Masis stems from my desire to hold back time. When I get on my early 70s Masi, with all the period-correct Campagnolo parts, and I tool down the street, or ride off in a group with friends, and watch that ubiquitous Campagnolo grease-port-cover spinning on the front hub, and over-shift to get the damned NR derailleur to down-shift properly, that allows me to feel young again. To forget that I'm nearly 50 and that there is now more time behind than ahead.

The bike is not signficant because of who made it. It's significant because of memory, and yearning.

Nothing very original about any of this. But signficant, and powerful? Yup.
