Yes, every time the tooling wears out it needs to be remade. And when it is remade the lettering is remade. And the lettering is often remade by someone who didn't do the original tooling so, as a consequence, it comes out different. And NO ONE PAYS ATTENTION TO THE CHANGE WHEN THIS HAPPENS until decades later when one collector says to another collector, "Hey did you notice these two parts have different style letters?" and then the other collector says, "Hey, I know, let's ask Valentino when the change occurred in the letter styles! YEAH, that's the ticket!!!"
