The last week has seen one of the most terrible disasters we have ever seen. No, I am not talking about the Gios on e-bay.
As somebody with children, living in an area that is prone to
earthquakes and other natural hazards, I cannot imagine what people
are going through. Unfortunately, our government feels we have other
priorities (see today's editorial in the New York Times at

I urge everybody to help by donating generously to one of the many
charities that are in a position to help. I chose Doctors Without
Borders at http://www.doctorswithoutborders.org/
In order to help further, Vintage Bicycle Quarterly will donate subscriptions. For each new subscriber or renewal until midnight on December 31, 2004, I will donate the full subscription amount of $ 30 to Doctors Without Borders, not just the non-extant profits. (If you subscribe for 2 years, I'll still donate $ 30, but I'll have a bit toward the cost of putting out the magazine.)
