Touche Tom, but please don't tell us you or anyone else actually sawed off the mudguard eyelets on drop-outs! Is it really true Raleigh did this with American market machines (Pros mostly) with the idea of "weight saving"? All those lovely (but oh so heavy eyelets) on the basement floor surrounded by thousands of little drilled out alloy bits. Guys and power tools.
But seriously, those Stronglight chainwheels with ALL those holes. It's just too much.
And no... I didn't snipe you on the Hetchins "Vade Mecum." I speak Italian, French and English to my bikes, but I sure ain't speaking Roman to them. I like my British iron "straight" and with nice Anglo Saxon names like Hobb's "Savernake" or a Dawes' "Wanderlustre."
