Original Shimano brake cable clamps might be harder to find, but: there were many Italian and I think some Japanese1x1/8 downtube shift cable clamps made in the '60's / '70's. These should fit just fine, and depending on where you would your cable to run, you could slide the clamp to suit or reshape the strap as was suggested in a previous post. I'll check in a few of our bins and see what's lurking about and advise. Ted Ernst.
